This wiki page is a collection of notes to help orient voluteers that are taking on the webmaster role for SAR Alberta.
This page is not complete. You should discuss issues with the previous webmasters and add your notes here.

[edit] To update the site
Use FTP to log into ftp.saralberta.org
The username you should supply is: smartnet\saralberta (yes it really does have a backslash in the middle)
The password of course is kept secret and should not be posted here. You can get it from Rodney Dietrich or Brett Wuth.
Once you've logged in, you'll find the files in: /saralberta/htdocs/
[edit] Automatic Updates
Some of the pages are automatically generated by BrettWuth. Please let BrettWuth know that you're the new webmaster so that he can set things up so that you'll get the automated notices whenever he makes changes, instead of the old webmaster.
The pages that he automatically generates are:

Please don't make any changes to those pages without going through Brett. If you do, your changes will automatically be overwritten and lost.
If you make changes that should be applied to every page, e.g. style changes or header changes, please let Brett know so he can adjust the pages he generates.

When you become the new Webmaster, you should update the information on WebsiteMaintainer so people will know you're the webmaster.
